Pi’i Laeha’s lifelong love for the ocean began with his first career as one of the original Waikiki Beachboys, before eventually finding his way to Mauna Lani Resort, where he is now the resident caretaker of natural resources. Here, he oversees the natural fish ponds and the turtle program, an initiative to raise hatchlings until they are an appropriate size to be released into the ocean. For Pi’i, however, his most important role is to educate the public on the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between humans and nature. Malama Honu, Malama Honua - In taking care of the turtles, we take care of the world.
